I spoke to fast in the lounge pants review when I complained that shorts weren't available in the SeV line of fashion. There's nothing quite like being wrong.

Design and Functionality

On the website I wasn't too thrilled by the pics and how they seemed to visually portray the Hidden Cargo Shorts. But after receiving them and giving them a go, I sound found out that I was wrong again about the Hidden Cargo Shorts. Not only do they provide exquisite comfort for the wearer (they are very light, much like most of what we've reviewed from the SeV line-up), but they actually look good on too. I received a welcomed compliment from my wife and a co-worker about how thin they make my butt look. Also, the sleek style of the shorts gives the illusion that you're wearing very stylish and high end material, rather than the bell-shaped heavy look that an Old-Navy pair of Cargos might provide. So, in terms of style and look, the design of the Cargo Shorts really does the trick. It would be nice if they were wrinkle-free though. That would be the snazziest.

As for the pocket design, the big plus, that made me so happy, was the magnet pockets in the back. Instead of fooling with worn down buttons that will eventually pop off and force you to purchase a new pair of shorts, the back pockets use magnets to open and close. I know what you might be thinking, "Won't that be an issue if you're got a wallet in the back? Couldn't that be an easier way for it to slip out?" You would think so, but not so! What seems to be by design, the pockets in the back are incredibly deep. Much deeper than the Old-Navy and GAP cargos that I own. So in terms of security, your loot is safe near your butt. What else this does is provide more comfort to the wearer as well. With deep pockets you no longer have to suffer the atrocity that is having your wallet pin itself to your butt and making it feel like you're sitting on a rock. That right there is worth the price of admission.

Still, the cargo shorts continue to impress because you've got three layers of pockets on each side of the shorts. So you've got three levels to carry your electronics around in. As usual, the SeV material, which is %100 cotton that is Teflon treated, so you don't have to worry about stains or water damage. Why this much protection? Do you really want wet electronics? Me neither. Add this to magnetic buttons and an anti-bulge system, which is what it sounds like... you can stuff your pockets full of your portables and no one will no the difference.

So with all this good, is there a bad? I found it incredibly difficult to locate the third tier in the cargo shorts. Once you find it, you're home free, but it took me an hour or so (and removal of shorts) to accomplish this feat. I guess the pockets are so hidden that it eludes itself. I kid, the pockets are nice once you are able to locate how to get into them.

Value

For something that is stain and water resistant, comfortable and stylish, and well-designed.. wouldn't it be worth $49.99 to you? I think so. I would rather pay a little extra for material that is going to last me a while then constantly going back to a retail store and purchasing more of the same because they keep ripping or wearing down (or fraying for that matter).

It's a good price for a great pair of cargo shorts.

Overall Comment

The comfort and design certainly make this something to look into immediately. Add to that the pockets and magnetic clips and you've got yourself some great shorts. If you're looking for something great, in terms of porting technology safely, and comfortable, then look no further than the SeV Hidden Cargo Shorts. They truly are another marvel in the SeV line-up.
