Gortex jackets....Fly Fishing applications (vest)....A gadget pocket that has a flap that reveals a window allow manipulation of said gadget without removing from pocket.....Just a few thoughts.
Cheers,
AJ
Ahh.... Gortex. Reminds me of all those rainy days spent on guard duty while in the Military; definitely an idea worth considering, especially in MilSpec camo......
although, again, the civilian market may have distinct use for it. I, personally, would not, but then again, it doesn't rain as much in the Utah/Nevada/Arizona area.....

Goretex is a good material, but not the only option for waterproof material as it had been in the past. We used Finetex on the Tactical 4.0, and between Teflon-treating and the ENAFF fabric on the Evolution (New Advanced Functional Fabric) you can see some of the top alternatives to Goretex. I also find the ENAFF to be breathable, too - this is a pretty new laminating technology for clothing.
One thing to keep in mind, which is something we try to be clear about - waterproof fabric does NOT equal totally waterproof clothing. For a garment to be truly waterproof, all seams need to be sealed, etc. Totally waterproof clothing typically *looks* that way - with a shiny strip around zippers and seams. But you can get really, really close with waterproof fabric assembled with tight tolerances.
Here was a comment from a customer, "Here is one photo I found. Rain coming in sideways in a thunder/squall on the Sea of Abaco. Seams held up and did not leak. 20 minutes later, clear skies and about 85. Conditions change quick over there."
